Developmental Facts

The baby’s thigh is as long as a cherry tomato!

The baby’s heart has beat more than 19 million times!

The baby has digestive enzymes that can break down the nutrients swallowed along with the amniotic fluid.

Blood cells begin replicating inside the bone marrow, just like in older children!

The baby’s head is bigger than a golf ball, and the baby’s foot is now about one inch long.

Fat cells emerge throughout the body. .

Lord, you are the source of all power and protection!
We marvel about how many things begin happening in our bodies while we are yet in our mother’s womb.
And we thank you for the scientific advances that enable us to know and see more about the unborn child than we have even known or seen in all of human history!
Yet how ironic it is that at this very stage of our history, so many protections have been taken away from that child in the womb!
Lord, as we grow in knowledge, grant that we may also grow in wisdom. As we deepen our understanding of the hidden life of the children in the womb, give us the grace and the ability to protect them!
We pray through Christ our Lord. Amen.
